In the field of psychology, the Department of Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital offers training opportunities for predoctoral and postdoctoral clinical psychology candidates who wish to develop careers as clinical scientists. The psychology training programs include psychology externships, a one-year predoctoral internship program accredited by the American Psychological Association, and several postdoctoral fellowship programs across the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan and NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center campuses. All of the psychology training programs are designed to provide an experiential model of learning, to teach core facts and theories of clinical psychology, and to incorporate current empirically supported knowledge and research into clinical training.
