Number of CEs required in New Jersey for Psychologists:
For each biennial license renewal, psychologists must complete 40 continuing education (CE) credits relevant to their practice. These must include at least 4 credits covering domestic violence topics—such as intimate partner violence, elder abuse, and child abuse—and 1 credit focused on opioid education, addressing prescription opioid risks, signs of abuse, addiction, and diversion.
The Board of Psychological Examiners has indicated that domestic violence education may be interpreted broadly to include topics related to survivor treatment, family protection, and similar issues. If you are unsure whether a specific program meets the requirement, you can contact the Board at 973-504-6470 for clarification.
