About the Event
The menopausal transition is a time of hormonal, physical, psychological and social change for many women. These changes shape women’s experiences as they move through mid-life and influence quality of life, both positively and negatively. This clinically-focused workshop will integrate didactics with case-based discussions. The workshop will provide an overview of the reproductive stages of a woman’s life around menopause, common symptoms women may experience in the menopausal transition, and risk factors for mental health symptoms at this time. It will cover how hormonal changes around menopause can impact mental health and highlight evidence-based pharmacologic interventions that can help relieve symptoms and optimize quality of life for women in mid-life, with a focus on depression and vasomotor symptoms. The workshop will include an in-depth discussion of menopausal hormone therapy.

Leah C. Susser, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Weill Cornell Medicine
Leah C. Susser, M.D., completed medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2012 and psychiatry residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP)/Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) in 2016. Throughout residency, she specialized in reproductive psychiatry through the Weill Cornell Women’s Program. After completing residency in 2016, she established the reproductive psychiatry clinic at NYP Westchester Behavioral Health. Dr. Susser is now Program Director of the cross-campus NYP/WCM Ambulatory Reproductive Psychiatry Program.
Susan Loeb-Zeitlin, M.D., FACOG
Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, Weill Cornell Medicine
Susan Loeb-Zeitlin, M.D., FACOG is both Founder and Director of the Weill Cornell Women’s Midlife Center. She attended Brandeis University and received her medical degree from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. Dr Loeb-Zeitlin completed her residency in OB/GYN at NewYork-Presbyterian in 1998 and has been on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medicine since then. Dr Loeb-Zeitlin’s practice concentrates on outpatient gynecology, and she treats women of all ages with a focus on the menopause transition. Her goal is to provide comprehensive, individualized women’s health care that encompasses all of the special health issues women face at each stage of their lives and to help guide women through transitions. The Weill Cornell Women’s Midlife center provides individualized, multi-disciplinary care and education to patients during and beyond the menopause transition.
