The Academy for Behavioral Health and Continuing Education: Clinician Workshop Series | Biological underpinnings and interventions for depression around menopause

Wednesday, September 16, 2026 12:00pm - Wednesday, September 16, 2026 3:15pm

Event Description:
The menopausal transition is a time of hormonal, physical, psychological and social change for many women. These changes shape women’s experiences as they move through mid-life and influence quality of life, both positively and negatively. This clinically-focused workshop will integrate didactics with case-based discussions. The workshop will provide an overview of the reproductive stages of a woman’s life around menopause, common symptoms women may experience in the menopausal transition, and risk factors for mental health symptoms at this time. It will cover how hormonal changes around menopause can impact mental health and highlight evidence-based pharmacologic interventions that can help relieve symptoms and optimize quality of life for women in mid-life, with a focus on depression and vasomotor symptoms. The workshop will include an in-depth discussion of menopausal hormone therapy.
