Child and Adolescent Social Skills Groups at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center

The Social Skills Group Therapy Program is designed to offer help to children and adolescents who are having difficulty with peer relationships. Children who are socially isolated or have problems with teasing and bullying learn how to read social cues and to respond appropriately to them.

The groups are co-led by a team that includes senior faculty and staff members with expertise in child development and the treatment of children dealing with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Learning Disabilities, High Functioning Autism, as well as other related childhood disorders. Social Skills Groups are designed to meet the developmental needs of individual children. Prior to joining, every child receives a comprehensive evaluation, and program leaders then screen each child to ensure that the designated group is a good match.
